HR - What Every Municipal Official Needs to Know
The saying “the Buck Stops Here” applies more than ever when municipal officials are asked to make policy decisions about liability and risk for city employees, programs, and even themselves. What can an elected official do to ask the right questions or make sure questions are asked? Our speaker, Scott Blaser, Director of Risk Control for the FLC, is an experienced HR Generalist. He specializes in risk management and safety for public entities. He will share lessons learned from past elected officials’ experiences - both good and bad - and what measures you can take to make sure all your experiences are on the good side. Day to day city business is handled by the city staff. However, elected officials must ensure the strategic mission of the city is met, and that includes the important role of setting policy.
*Please note there is no charge for members of the Florida League of Cities to attend.  Any cancellations must be received no less than seven days before the scheduled workshop.  You may substitute another individual in your place by notifying us prior to the date of the workshop.
